Modules

Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is divided into 3 Modules, each lasting two months. Our curriculum uses a systematic and supportive progression throughout the program to assist students in transitioning smoothly into the role of teacher.

  • Module 1 delves into yoga philosophy, individual postures, therapeutic modifications, assists, basic breathing techniques within postures, and anatomy. Participants engage in paired teaching exercises to gain confidence, leading up to a concise 'practice teach' with a small group.

  • Upon the foundation of Module 1 postures, Module 2 dives deeper into the art of sequencing and explores 'energy anatomy,' covering bandhas, breathing, and meditation. Module Two introduces modern academic yoga research, yoga history and yoga education. This module provides several slightly extended 'practice teach' sessions in small groups.

  • Module 3 is dedicated to continuing education and coaching in yoga business, and supporting our teacher trainees in the process of refining and articulating their distinctive teaching style with a therapeutic focus. This module offers several “practice teach” sessions, culminating in a one-hour practice teach.

“This was the best training experience I could have ever asked for, and the constant love and support from Julianne and Prema was amazing. I had so much fun learning about everything from teaching methodology, sequencing, pranayama, meditation, and functional anatomy to yoga history and philosophy. They made learning fun and engaging while providing quality and complete content. I felt empowered and beautifully guided through the entire training program, and I really appreciated their efforts to help highlight the unique strengths and goals of each teacher in the training to make it a personalized learning experience. Additionally, I loved learning about the therapeutic approach to teaching to best support students with stability and ease while giving them back agency and choice in their personal practice.”

The personal growth during this program is one of the most valuable treasures I gained throughout my time with the Therapeutic Yoga Institute. With the guidance of Prema and Julianne, I have been able to grow deeper into my yoga practice. They are both knowledgeable and loving teachers, whose beautiful spirits draw you towards the light. I appreciate the nurturing way that they encourage curiosity and growth.”

“Prema and Julianne are truly fabulous teachers and bring a wealth of knowledge to the custom curriclum created at the Theraprutic Yoga Institute. I found the training to be well rounded and especially helpful for a therapeutic approach to Yoga. Would absolutely recommend. Prema brings years of experience in yoga and as a nun to share with you during the program. She also offers omprov which helps to go more indepth to topics and find creative ways for learning. Julianne brings years of experience in both yoga and nursing so that the anatomical side of this training is made very accessible and also interesting and engaging to learn. Both of them offer fabulous ideas for modifications and various ways yoga is a part of life and how to best convey it as a well rounded teacher.”
