From Information to Transformation: How Yoga Teacher Trainings Create Meaningful Change
Yoga teacher trainings (YTTs) are often seen as a means to gain knowledge—learning poses, anatomy, and philosophy. But at their core, they offer something far deeper: an invitation to transformation. Unlike traditional education, which focuses on the transfer of information, a well-structured YTT fosters a space where learning becomes embodied, personal, and revelatory.
True transformation happens when we are challenged to see ourselves and the world differently. Through self-inquiry, embodied practice, and the support of a learning community, YTTs provide a container for this kind of growth. Participants are encouraged to reflect on their assumptions, engage in meaningful dialogue, and step into new ways of thinking, moving, and relating. This process echoes what Jack Mezirow called Transformative Learning Theory—the kind of education that shifts perspectives and rewires patterns, rather than just adding more information to the mind.
In this way, yoga teacher trainings are not just about becoming an instructor; they are about becoming more fully oneself. Whether or not a graduate chooses to teach, the experience has the potential to reshape their life, fostering deeper authenticity, presence, and understanding.

Teacher-In-Training Reflection
Today, we are thrilled to introduce an essay by Lauren Beisel, a passionate student who recently delved into the profound dimensions of yoga.

Inclusive Yoga
Inclusive yoga serves as a therapeutic approach by recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental well-being, empowering individuals, respecting diversity, and fostering a supportive community. This approach goes beyond the physical postures, aiming to create a holistic and healing experience for all participants.

Yoga and The Liberatory Essence of Education
