The Winter 2025 program is a 4-month journey that features an immersive retreat at Cedar Crest Lodge. This immersion is designed to support participants in their exploration of yoga, meditation, and the art of facilitation. The retreat setting allows for uninterrupted focus on personal growth and the cultivation of a mindful teaching presence.

This program is committed to creating a safe, sacred, and supportive environment that promotes everyone to grow and succeed as a yoga practitioner, therapeutic yoga instructor, and as a compassionate human being. Upon completing our program, graduates from the Therapeutic Yoga Institute are uniquely equipped to share authentic yoga asana classes with a therapeutic focus, incorporating meditation and breathing techniques to support the needs of their community.
Our Evolving Curriculum
Our educational framework is inspired in the convergence of ancient wisdom and modern science. The curriculum draws from current yoga research with the intention to make the ancient teachings applicable and relatable to every day life. We believe that yoga is constantly evolving and that every participant brings their unique perspective, contributing their individual expression and creativity to our program.

Payment Plan Option:
The Therapeutic Yoga Institute offers students a 6-month payment plan. The payment plan is structured at follows,
$500 deposit is required to hold applicant’s spot (due November 1st 2024)
$495 due the 1st of the month for 6 months (November through April) + $19.80 / month for cc processing fees.

Topics in this category include, but are not limited to: warm-ups; asana (postures) with modifications and variations, and sequencing; pranayama (breath work); meditation and mantra. These topics range between guided practices, training in how to teach these given practices, and then “practice teaching” the new skills and techniques.

Topics in this category include: clear and compassionate communication skills such as Reflective Listening and Conscious Communication, group dynamics, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries; how to address the specific needs of individuals and special populations; principles of demonstration, observation, and assisting; teaching styles and the qualities of being a teacher.

Topics in this category include applied human physical anatomy and physiology related to yoga posture variations and modifications. We also provide a pragmatical resource for energy anatomy and physiology (an introduction to the subtle body through breath, meditation, bandhas, chakra, and kosha theory).

Topics in this category include, but are not limited to: the study of yoga philosophies, traditional texts, the origins of yoga, the influence of colonial and post-colonial thought, and modern yoga scholarship; and the ongoing influence each individual has in the evolution of yoga within our global communities.

Topics in this category include the business aspects of teaching yoga, how to share yoga authentically and effectively within your community; creating an inclusive environment for yoga, yoga lifestyle, such as interpersonal relationship skills; ethics for yoga teachers, such as those involving teacher – student relationships and therapeutic practices.

Topics in this category include but are not limited to: teaching with a partner and in small groups; receiving and giving feedback; experiential assisting; and yogic lifestyle practices in a residential shared learning environment.
All participants of the Yoga Teacher Training have an Unlimited Yoga Membership at Lotus Care KC Yoga Therapy and Wellness Studio for a year.
4-Month Journey
Our 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training is a 4-month journey. Our curriculum uses a systematic and supportive progression throughout the program to assist students in transitioning smoothly into the role of teacher.

Delve into yoga philosophy, individual postures, therapeutic modifications, assists, basic breathing techniques within postures, and anatomy. Introduction to modern academic yoga research, yoga history and yoga education. Participants engage in paired teaching exercises to gain confidence, leading up to a concise 'practice teach' with a small group.

Dive into the art of sequencing and explores 'energy anatomy,' covering bandhas, breathing, and meditation. This retreat provides several slightly extended 'practice teach' sessions in small groups.

Dedicated to continuing education and coaching in yoga business, and supporting our teacher trainees in the process of refining and articulating their distinctive teaching style with a therapeutic focus. This module offers several “practice teach” sessions, culminating in a one-hour practice teach.

What are the graduation requirements?
Completion and graduation depend upon attendance, participation, demonstrating an understanding of the principles and material presented in the training, as well as, following the ethical precepts described by Yoga Alliance’s guidelines and supported by the Therapeutic Yoga Institute.
What will I learn from this program?
To have experiential knowledge of alignment and form of yogasana and to be able to provide modifications with regressions and progressions, making asana practice accessible for every person.
To be able to create and teach a class sequence that includes asana, pranayama and meditation for a group class or private session.
To provide a safe and inclusive environment that cultivates a therapeutic relationship for a student desiring to learn.
To embrace the Yamas and Niyamas as a teaching style and a lifestyle.
To have knowledge of the Yoga Sutras, the 8 Limbs of Yoga, the Koshas, the Kleshas, the Chakras, the Bandhas, the Subtle Body, etc.
A basic understanding of an Ayurvedic Lifestyle
A basic knowledge of Yoga Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics
